Learn the piano in a day workshop

The perfect workshop designed for adults to learn all the basics of the piano in an intensive, but fun all-day workshop.

The day will start with an introduction to the piano and just how the basics of the piano work.

After this each individual will have an opportunity to memorise the first five notes of the right hand namely ‘CDEFG’.

Small groups will be formed and a small competition will take place with the best group winning a prize!

Then back at the keyboards each individual will have to memorise the first five notes of the left namely ‘FGABC’!

During the course of the day, delegates will work together in small teams and learn a short composition.

At the end of the day, all teams will play the same song and discover the joy and beauty of musical harmony on the piano!

This course takes place with master musician and pianist Stefan Joubert.

Stefan Joubert is known as a multi-instrumentalist and master musician and he has taught thousands of students how to play music over the past decade.

His attention to detail and pleasant method of instruction has gained him a solid reputation in the music industry.

Stefan Joubert studied classical piano under maestro Josias van Der Merwe, jazz guitar under the legendary Johnny Fourie. In addition to this, he also studied for years under the formidable Abri Jordaan in South Africa and completed a 3-year Diploma in Jazz studies.

He is also known for playing the piano on the guitar! Literally! His “touch” guitar style is well known on YouTube and he has videos with millions of views.

Stefan is also the general manager and overseer of the London Piano Institute and responsible for the day to day running of the Institute.

Teams will be formed and a small competition will ensue with the winner winning a surprise prize!

We will then have a tea break.

After this delegates will have some time to learn small (easy) tunes on the piano.

We will then break for lunch.

After lunch, will learn the basics of the chords of music and each delegate will walk away with a chord progression used in thousands of popular tunes!

We will then have a small tea break again.

After this small teams will be formed and each team will be responsible to play a part of the main composition of the day. (Composed by Stefan Joubert)

Finally, we will perform the tune in harmony and everyone will be absolutely surprised at just how quickly they could learn how to play the piano!
