At the London Piano Institute, we empathy with adults who want to learn how to play the piano but who are anxious about getting started.
Adult piano enthusiasts who have no musical background or previous experience often doubt their ability to be able to play. They mix this fear up with all sorts of unfounded beliefs and wonders such as “Am I not too old to start?”, “I don’t believe I have any musical talent” or “What if I am not good at all and look ridiculous?”

The first thing we would like to tell you is: Do not worry!

You do not need to worry for the following reasons:

1. Whatever old you are, there is no age limit to start playing the piano for your pleasure. You do not intend to take a brand new direction, quit your job and become a concert pianist, right?
2. Any unique talent is, once again, not necessary to enjoy playing the piano. It is, indeed, helpful for those who wish to embark on a pianistic career, but they do not even need to possess it initially. We believe that talent is a skill that gets developed over time with years and years of experience. As you are not planning to do your debut at the Carnegie Hall soon, this point should not be considered.
3. Being afraid of not being good is understandable. It is usual for any adult to start a new hobby, but looking ridiculous will never happen at the London Piano Institute.

We have a genuine passion for helping adults get started, and we can assure you that we will never judge you. We will never think negatively of you. On the contrary, we will always support you and guide you in a manner that is comfortable for you.

I hope that you are not as worried after reading these few lines.
